Green Lake Park Restoration Project
In 2016 this site was closed as part of governmental budget reductions. On November 2, 2023 an agreement was signed that allowed the site to open again and be operated and maintained by the Mountain Historical Society, a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization.
Park History
The Green Lake pavilion was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1937. It was one of the earliest recreational structures within the Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest. It was constructed using local materials including cedar and pine.
